Graphitic Energy Welcomes Dennis Lippmann as President
We are thrilled to announce that Dennis Lippmann has joined Graphitic Energy as our new President — marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our company.
To appreciate what this moment represents, it’s worth reflecting on how far we’ve come.
Our first chapter was all about the core chemistry — discovering the most effective way to split natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon. After countless experiments and innovations in the lab, we developed a process that addresses the central challenge of methane pyrolysis: how to efficiently deliver heat to the reaction.
Our second chapter focused on scale-up and fluid dynamics. Could our process work at industrial scale? Thanks to the dedication of Patrick Hanks and our talented technical team, we’ve proven that our carbon formation reactor can operate effectively at world scale — a major milestone toward commercialization.
Now, as we enter our third chapter, our focus shifts to project execution and commercialization — and Dennis is the ideal leader to guide us forward.
Dennis joins Graphitic Energy after a remarkable 28-year career with Uhde and thyssenkrupp, where he held multiple senior leadership positions across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. His journey began as a process engineer, followed by decades of innovation and leadership through major industry transformations.
From leading Uhde’s process department and enabling more than two decades of market leadership in large-scale ammonia plants, to overseeing the commissioning of the world’s largest ammonia complex in Saudi Arabia, Dennis has consistently delivered excellence on a global scale. After relocating to the U.S. in 2009, he grew Uhde Corporation’s backlog to $1.6 billion, later serving as CEO thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions North America, overseeing 14 locations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Most recently, he led thyssenkrupp Uhde USA as President & CEO.
Dennis brings not only unparalleled technical and operational experience but also a genuine passion for teamwork and innovation. At Graphitic Energy, Dennis will help shape the commercial rollout of our methane-to-hydrogen and carbon platform, guiding us from pilot to project delivery. His leadership will be instrumental as we scale our technology, form new partnerships, and continue advancing the clean hydrogen and carbon markets.
Please join us in welcoming Dennis to the Graphitic Energy team — we’re excited for what lies ahead.
